I love Chagall, I love his colors and the characters in his work. Currently, there is an exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris that is dedicated to his drawings, ceramics and sculptures during the period 1945-1970. These works are a donation of his grand-daughters Bella and Meret Meyer to the museum. It’s a beautiful exhibition, and the finesse of his drawings gives another aspect to Chagall’s characters.
In two words:
“O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!”William Shakespeare, The Tempest Tweet
The exhibition is organized in 4 sections:
- The Firebird: He made the costumes and the stage curtain of the ballet
- The Opera: He made the ceiling of the Opéra Garnier in Paris
- The sculptures and ceramics
- The collages
Everything was very beautiful and there was precision in colors and interesting texture in the collages. Blue and green were presented with brio and flawlessly catch the eye!
The finesse of the drawings is remarkable and gives another aspect to Chagall’s work!
Try to organize your visit as early as possible to avoid big lines.
Visit the exhibition asap because it ends on the 26 of February!
Bien à vous,
Dimitra
