What is left to say about Greek food? Traditional Greek food is by far more simple than French cuisine but it is still very tasteful and it has nourished for years Greeks and often in very difficult times. Since the big crisis in 2009, Greeks started to be interested again in food and cuisine, many new chefs appeared in the “food” scene, and we only talked about “food” on TV when people did not have enough to eat. It’s a paradox, I know, but it worked, because finally, when you have nothing else to lose and you are left with nothing, then food brings comfort, especially when you innovate.
My Greek cuisine is light but still very tasteful and good because it’s healthy! It’s your turn to try it :)
Tartare Sauce
A tartare sauce made with Greek yogurt or fromage blanc for those in France, some shallots, capers, and cucumber pickles (cornichons), it’s light and very tasteful as well as powerful!
Chickpeas in soup
A chickpeas soup because it’s possible to make soup with chickpeas! And it’s good ;-) It is perfumed as well with rosemary and the whole thing is served with a little bit of lemon juice! It’s really good :-) Just give it a try!
Revithada from Sifnos – Easy chickpeas for all
This is a dish with chick peas that is easy to make and so tasteful because the chick peas cook for 2h15 in low heat! They are moist and melt as you eat them! Give it a try because it worth waiting!
Risotto with cabbage the Greek way (lahanorizo or laxanorizo)
A fine risotto that is easy to make and quick! It’s made with cabbage, onions and has some dried raisin and some dill! It’s very flavorful and tasty! And it’s a bit different from what you know!
Leeks and celery roots with lemon and dill
This is a dish that changes the taste of leeks because it adds some celery roots and the whole thing has another very unusual taste that is very pleasant and surprising! It also has some dill and of course some lemon juice and you have never tasted a dish like this!
Greek biscuits for Christmas and the New Year with roasted almonds and spices (kourabiedes)
The kourabiedes are traditional Greek treats for Christmas! They are thick biscuits made with butter and flour and have some roasted almonds as well :-) This version has also some spices (cinnamon and cloves) and that’s why it’s so special! The confectioner’s sugar on top give a slight extra sweetness and it’s wonderful!
